What are the continuing education requirements?

LBSWs and LMSWs must complete 45 clock hours of continuing education in each renewal cycle. Five clock hours must be in ethics, and one hour must be in pain or pain symptom management. Courses in pain management could include, but not limited to stress management, behavior management, psychology of pain, and behavior modification.

Can I earn my continuing education credits online?

The Board of Social Work will accept only 10 hours of online continuing education earned over the license renewal cycle.

How long do I need to keep my continuing education certificates?

You must maintain your continuing education certificates for a period of 4 years after you have renewed your license.

Will a social work licensure take the place of the ACSW?

The ACSW is a credential that acknowledges an individuals level of knowledge and achievement in the profession. The ACSW credential is not a license. This credential is available only through the National Association of Social Workers.
